Not so long ago, almost nobody but students lived in downtown Providence; now, Downcity is full of luxury apartments, and plans are on the boards for even more student housing to be built as part of the I-195 corridor redevelopment project.
That’s a long way of saying that there are a lot more downtown residents than ever, many of whom don’t need a car on a regular basis. Here’s where Zipcar comes in: you can reserve a car for an hour or a week, depending on what you need. And while Providence is super walkable, there are times where you need to get out and do a little road-tripping.
But where to go, where to go? I’ve got some ideas for you in my latest article for Ziptopia, the Zipcar blog: “Providence for College Students: Our Off-the-Beaten-Path Hot Spots,” including everything from the beaches of South County to H.P. Lovecraft’s gravesite. While you’re at it, take a read of my other Zipcar story on Newport. Now, get out there and drive!
