Scooted across the border to the Chestnut State this week to pick some apples at Brookfield Orchards (warm apple dumplings with ice cream, mmmmm) and check out the Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor during a stay at the Southbridge Hotel & Conference Center.
It’s all pretty convenient for a day-trip from Rhode Island. How close, you say? Well, the orchards stock Dave’s Coffee Syrup, and Venda ravioli was on the menu at the excellent 85 Main restaurant in charming Putnam. A little taste of home while exploring a swath of quiet Connecticut with some of the largest tracts of undisturbed woodland on the East Coast!
