We got our first real taste of Twin Willows‘ outstanding corned beef sandwiches at their raucous, annual St. Patrick’s Day bash, when the sliders come fast and furious (washed down by plenty of beer, of course) for 69 cents each all day long.
But Twin Willows isn’t just a once-a-year experience: this restaurant on Route 1A on the road to Narragansett Pier may be overlooked by some summer visitors, but never by locals. It’s got a big, friendly bar, live music many nights of the week, and — in warm weather — a compact but cute outside deck and bar offering glimpses of Narragansett Bay to go along with reasonably priced food and drinks.
Did we mention the corned beef? We’ve had some really good food here, especially seafood (try the blackened salmon sandwich, as we did last night). But what still stands out is the house-made corned beef, a thick slab of which graced this reuben we noshed on as the sun set over a perfect June day.
