Have you checked out the beaches of Quonset Point yet? The former Navy Base not only has a 3.5-mile bike path that ends at the water’s edge, it also has four uncrowded public beaches on Narragansett Bay that are free for anyone to use.

The four hidden beaches are:

  • Blue Beach, the southernmost beach located near the Kiefer Park neighborhood
  • Compass Rose Beach, the easiest beach to find if you’re coming into the park via the Route 403 highway (keep going almost to the end, then follow the signs)
  • Spink’s Neck Beach (pictured above), maybe the park’s nicest beach, it’s within walking distance of the North Kingstown Marina and has a wide strip of sand; and
  • Calf Pasture Point Beach, which is the beach at the end of the bike path and abuts a large parcel of undeveloped waterfront land next to the Mount View neighborhood.

For more information, see the Quonset website; this map can help you reach the beach.
