EatDrinkRI has been working hard to revive the old Shooters nightclub location near India Point Park as the Providence Central Market, and you can find out what the plans are (and grab some great local food and drink) at a preview event at the waterfront site (25 Water Street) on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Providence’s Union Studio will be showing off their site plans for the Central Market, which will feature event spaces, a Market Hall for locally raised produce and food products, restaurants, and commercial & presentation kitchens. The market location is right next to the dock for the new and wildly successful Providence-Newport Ferry, which debuted this summer.
More than 20 vendors — including many who plan to have locations at the Central Market — will be on hand for the preview event on Saturday, including The Backyard Food Company, El Rancho Grande, The Granny Squibb Company, Moonrose Farm, Narragansett Creamery, New Harvest Coffee Roasters, Stock Culinary Goods, and Yacht Club Soda. EatDrinkRI continues to work with city and state officials to convert the publicly owned site to a retail and events center that backers say will become a magnet for tourism.
