If the thought that some voters still can’t decide between the HillDog and The Donald makes you need a drink, Rhode Island’s Yacht Club Bottling Works has some fizzy fun for you. The North Providence company this week released a pair of politically charged carbonated drinks: Hillary’s Liberal Limeade and Donald’s Populist Punch.
Unlike politicians, everything about these locally produced drinks is authentic, from the natural flavorings to the mineral water to the real cane sugar used as a sweetener. In a year where nothing about the election seems to make sense, Yacht Works says it will announce in November which candidate won the popular vote based on soda sales — which may be as good a yardstick as anything else.
They say there’s no accounting for taste, but let’s see which drink captures your fancy: will it be limeade or punch — even if you have to look past the label?
The sodas will be available throughout the election season at the company store at 2239 Mineral Spring Ave., which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday & Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays (closed Sundays). You can also buy them at select stores throughout Southeastern New England and at local farmers markets.
