Penguins, red pandas, and snow leopards are in their glory in this chilly weather, and now there’s even more reason to bundle up and head to the Roger Williams Park Zoo — it’s free!
The zoo is waiving its normal admission charges between now and the end of 2016 as part of its Welcome Winter Celebration. In exchange, visitors are asked to bring non-perishable food items and/or gently used coats and other cold-weather clothing to donate to local charities. These items can be dropped off at the zoo admission gates.
Note that the zoo will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Otherwise, the zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winter events included Roger, the zoo’s red panda mascot, greeting visitors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a daily Keeper Talk at 11:30 a.m., and animal encounters at Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard Great Room at 1:30 p.m. daily beginning on Dec. 27.
