Pond hockey, yeeeaaah!
That photo is from last year, unfortunately.
Yes, we’re still waiting for our lake to stay frozen enough to enjoy some pond hockey in winter 2017, but that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of other great outdoor activity to be had down in South County. However, climate change has resulted in fewer and fewer snowy and cold-weather days here in Southern New England, so when the white stuff hits the ground that’s your signal to break out the sleds, skates, and skis without delay, because chances are there’s a big meltoff or rain storm just ahead to come along and wash out our winter wonderland.
Ready to get off the couch and onto the ice or snow? My new story in SO Rhode Island will guide you to more than 20 great winter activities in the southern half of the state, including perennial favorites like Yawgoo Valley Ski Area and the Brandon Boss Ice Arena at URI as well as some less-traveled ski and snowshoe trails in Goddard Park and on the South County Bike Path. That’s where you’ll find all the cool kids this winter!
