The nonprofit Ocean State Theatre Company in Warwick is all about educating young folks in the ways of performance. And that would include hosting “Pirate School!” on March 11 at 11 a.m.
It’s a one-time only show that’s part of Ocean State’s Family Fun Fest, a nationally touring show that, Ocean State says, “has captivated adventure-questing kids and their parents with its slapstick antics, adept magic, cartoon-like sound effects, eye-popping puppetry, eccentric props and active, full-audience participation.”
That would include kids learning the “finer points of mischief” and becoming “good pirates,” by learning cooperation and carousing together as buccaneers. Pirate teacher is Billy Bones, played by actor David Engel who’s been around a long while, doing 250 shows a year at theaters, festivals, corporate events and the like, and also performing as a clown doctor with the Big Apple Circus’s in-hospital Clown Care Program.
Tickets for the show are $10 at the box office or via www.oceanstatetheatre.org And kids, feel free to channel your inner pirate by attending in costume if you’d like.
