South County is Casting a Wider Net for Visitors

Matunuck Oyster Bar founder Perry Raso has helped introduce experiential travel to South County with his oyster-raking outings, and new South County Tourism Council head Louise Bishop wants to see more of the same from others in the region — not just to attract experience-oriented Millennials, but tourists from as far away as China. My recent interview with Bishop for SO Rhode Island magazine also yielded a few other nuggets, like expansion plans at the Preserve at Boulder Hills (which already has a zipline — who knew?), the return of the Southland excursion boat to South County waters, and new hotel projects possibly coming to Westerly and the URI area:
