Already missing National Tequila Day? Yesterday might not have been the perfect time to stir the perfect margarita — rainy Tuesdays aren’t real great for partying — but fortunately there’s a chance for redemption: the first annual Mohegan Sun Tequila Tasting debuts on Friday, July 28.
From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. you’ll be able to sample dozens of tequilas and mezcals, from familiar names like Cabo Wabo, El Jimador and Hornitos to more exotic labels such as Don Abraham Tequila and Illegal Mezcal. “Go for the ones on the list that you haven’t tried yet,” advises Mohegan Sun Public Events Manager Krista May, who tells RITravel that the event sprung from a small but well-received tequila tasting held at the casino’s popular food and wine festival.
A DJ will be spinning dance musica — maybe even some mariachi tunes — while guests also can nosh on street tacos, quesadillas, and other Mexican food. Tickets are $85 per person, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Southeastern United Way; they can be ordered in advance on the Mohegan Sun website or on the day of the event.
